A show only reaches cult status because of its fans. After discovering the thousands of pieces of incredible Peaky Blinders fanart that were being created around the globe — we knew we had to do something about it.
To promote series 5, our solution was simple: use OOH to turn fanart into a national art exhibition.
We held a competition, and received over 1200 submissions across the UK. 16 winning artists were featured in a massive OOH campaign and online BBC exhibition. Each artist was compensated for their work.
The campaign was picked up by BBC World News, Adweek, Campaign Live, The Drum and more. Artists were interviewed by their local papers. Mayors got involved. Even a museum asked for artwork. And the show launched with nearly 4 million live viewers, with 7.3 million requests in the first week—the highest of any show on iPlayer.
